Nov. 1998 Story |

New!! |
Different cultures around the
world have attempted to explain earthquakes in different ways. One legend from India says
that the earth is held up by four elephants that stand on the back of a turtle. The turtle
is balanced on top of a cobra. When any of these animals move, the earth trembles and
shakes. This is just one of the new earthquakes legends posted on the FEMA for Kids Web
site (www.fema.gov/kids). To look for them, check
out The Disaster Area icon, and then go to earthquakes! |
