My Friend,
Fancy the Pinto Filly
By Aubrey Catlin Brown

Fancy is a two year old filly. She belongs to my Aunt Shirley. Every time I come down here, I like to spend time after we feed to talk and pet her. My horse, Bana, lives right next to her. Fancy and Bana are good friends.

When I go in to Fancy's stall, she greets me with a whinny as she trots over to see me. Fancy was born on Easter Sunday and that makes her good luck and special to me.

Fancy's mother, Chief, lives three stalls away from Fancy. Fancy has a sister, and her name is Sherri. Sheri is a bay and white tobiano pinto. She has their mom's eyes. Their mom is a black and white tobiano paint mare. Fancy is a black and white tobiano pinto. She has her dad's head and eyes. Her dad is Tiger, a small red arabian stallion. He's beautiful. So is Fancy.

Fancy has a scar on her hip. She was injured when she ran between her mom and the mare her mom was trying to kick through the fence. The vet, Dr. Susan, came out and put stitches and staples in her hip. We had to wean her early so she could stay on stall rest and be taken care of during the day. I still remember that terrible day.

Fancy is a wonderful horse…
