My "Bo"
By Aubrey Catlin Brown

My dad's old horse, Bo, was a pretty special horse to me. I still dream about him even though I was very small and my memories are from then. I think about him a lot. My mom would let me ride him. I was only three. I remember he had a small biting problem.

The reason he was called Bo was because of his white spot on his forehead. He was a quarter horse, maybe with a little thoroughbred thrown in because he was big and buff. I would help my dad with all the gates when he fed all the cows and horses. We used to feed a lot of jack rabbits all of our old vegetables. Bo would whinny at anyone who walked out of the house.

My brother, Colin, and our old dog, Cricket, were also in love with Bo. After another year or so at the ranch my parents got divorced and the ranch had to be sold. Six months later, my dad, brother, and me packed up and moved to Truckee, California. That was the last time I saw Bo.

I will remember him all my life.
