| SUPPORT SB 396 | April Update on AB 509 SB 396 is the new Senate bill introduced by Senators Dina Titus (D-Las Vegas) and Randolph Townsend (R-Washoe County) into the Senate Judiciary Committee that will make it a CLASS C FELONY to intentionally & maliciously kill a wild horse or an estray. It also increases the penalties for other cruelty acts against animals. We must now put all efforts to urge citizens of Nevada to call the Legislative Hot Line 687-4848 stating that you support SENATE Bill No. 396. Ask our Nevada legislators to please support and vote YES on SB 396. In a work session (no testimony was allowed even though Bobbi raised her hand to clarify misinformation being distributed by the rebels) this afternoon, AB 509 passed the committee with Assemblywoman Bonnie Parnell (D-Part of Carson City -teacher) & Assemblyman Doug Bache (D-Clark County) voting against. Bonnie made a couragous speech & urged the other committee members to vote against it.Assemblyman David Humke (R-Washoe County-attorney) was there for the roll call, but conveniently left before the vote even though an e-mail this AM stated he would vote against it. Typical of Humke & is not a friend of the horses. Also Chairwoman Marcia de Braga (D-Churchill & White Pine Counties & parts of Eureka & Lander Counties who is a rancher & writer), Vice-chairwoman Gene Segerblom (D-Clark County), Assemblyman Jerry Claborn (D-Clark County), Assemblyman John Lee (D-Clark County -business owner), Assemblyman Harry Mortensen (D-Clark County), Assemblyman John Carpenter (R-Part of Elko County -rancher, real estate broker, general business), Assemblyman Roy Neighbors (D-Esmeralda, Lincoln, Mineral & Nye Counties), Assemblyman Lynn Hettrick (R-Douglas County & part of Carson City-investment manager), Assemblyman John Marvel (R-Humboldt & Pershing Counties & parts of Elko, Eureka & Lander Counties) voted for AB 509.
