1998- A very special rabbit (Mrs. Rabbit) came to Loyalton Junior High
School and became a very important part of Mrs. Nunes' class.
Sometimes we meet a few select people in life whose inner beauty is captivating and filled
with kindness. Mrs. Rabbit is one of those people disguised in a rabbit coat. Her beauty
is not exhibited in her loud, flashy colors. Mrs. Rabbit is light brown with a sparse
splash of white. Her beauty is in her doe-like eyes.
Those of us who are animal lovers know firsthand that pets are
entertaining, humorous, educational (they teach responsibility), and provide unconditional
love. There is also medical research that connects improved health and blood pressure to
owning a pet. In other words our physical and psychological contributions to caring for
animals can result in special calming and healing paybacks.

| Mrs. Rabbit Joins Loylaton Junior High Class - 1998 |
Dr. Abdul, Principal, of Loyalton Junior High School expressed
an interest in obtaining a school pet for the purpose of sharing all of the
above-mentioned qualities with his students.
MCAH (Maternal, Child, Adolescent Health Advisory Board)
Chairperson, Vickee Greer, was able to coordinate the donation of Mrs. Rabbit (previously
a resident of Reno) to the school. The MCAH Board is involved with both young people and
animals through its "Campaign Against Violence." This "dog and rabbit"
show will be headed to Sierra County schools throughout the year.

Mrs. Rabbit arrived in Mrs. Nunes' class with a dowry befitting a rabbit princess (gourmet
rabbit food, new feeder, fresh bag of shavings, nut bar, yogurt drops, chews, three bags
of carrots, travel carrier with a sliding panel for a view, and more). She had been well
loved in her home but it was felt she had an even more important career ahead of her as a
rabbit teacher and friend to the students. By being responsible for her care, the students
will learn and do a myriad of things
take Mrs. Rabbit on a walk wearing her harness
and leash, realize the importance of providing a fresh drink of water and a bowl of food,
recognize that someone relies on them for safety, and understand that sometimes having
someone to talk to or give you a furry hug
just doesn't get any better.
Welcome to Loyalton, Mrs. Rabbit. We are glad you are here.
