The Blues Day
Hi, my name is Brandi and I am 15 years old.

My story is about one of my first horses that I had. He was a grey gelding. He was 16 hands tall and 9 years old. His name was Blue and we got him in 1987 when I was four or five.

One day my parents and I went out to feed our 6 horses on the 100 acres my mom and dad owned in Elko, Nevada. All the horses came up wanting to eat as soon as they saw us. But this one day all of them came up but one. I went out looking for him.

We had heavy rains the day before. So when I went to look for him, I had to slog through all the mud but could not find him. When I got to the wash, I saw that he was down in it. I started to cry and for a couple of minutes just laid there and sobbed. Then I ran and got my folks. I told them that he was dead.

I cried for three days before I finally could stop. I did not go help bury him because I was afraid I would even hurt worse.

I will never forget Blue.
