| The main objectives of the
Northern Nevada Gaited Horse Club are fairly simple; to have fun with our horses, to meet
new friends, and to enjoy our beautiful Northern Nevada and the Sierra Mountains on
horseback. We get together
approximately once a month for trail rides. Additionally, we schedule an occasional pot
luck dinner or barbecue and over-night camping trips with our horses. We arrange our own
clinics and have been successful at scheduling gaited horse classes in local shows. The
club does not support or condone any inhumane practices against horses, nor does it
support or condone any events that allow said practices.
NNGHC is a terrific venue for meeting new
people, and a great source of information about the talents, versatility, and capabilities
of each gaited breed, including the Tennessee Walking Horse, Missouri Fox Trotter, Spotted
Saddle Horse, Kentucky Mountain Horse, Rocky Mountain Horse, Peruvian Paso, and Paso Fino.
We now have close to 70 members and we are growing rapidly. The highlight for the club
each year is our annual all-breed gaited horse show. Our 1997 show included 57 horses from
Oregon, California, Nevada, and Idaho competing with 396 entries in 75 classes. The 1998
show will be held June 6th and 7th in Fuji Park in Carson City, Nevada, and promises to be
even more successful.
If your personal goals are to learn more
about the different gaits, training, making new friends, and having fun with your horse,
NNGHC is the club for you! |
