When Tony Baratti arrived in Bishop, California, for Mule Days - he was ready to test his mule shoeing ability against the best.  When he left, he walked away with his third World Muleshoeing Championship.

"Mules are smarter than horses.  They don't like to hurt themselves," explained Baratti.   "On the pack trail, they are sure-footed.  They don't panic in a crisis situation and they pay attention." Tony knows because he's been working with mules for more than 15 years.

Tony, wears his derby, wire-rimmed glasses, shoeing leathers and a smile that welcomes everyone at Mule Days.  He truly respects mules.  "Humans can't dominate a mule," he explained.  "If you ever hurt a mule - look out, the day will come when that mule will get you back.  But a mule is amazing - you can trust their judgment and know that they have common sense."
