February 98 -- Franktown Meadows, Inc. was pleased to host the Willy Arts Dressage Clinic February 8th & 9th.

Participants in the Clinic included Ame Hellman, Jennifer Smith, Shirley Meinikoff, Almee & Sarah LaFayette, Lynne Garnett, Peter & Linda Niday, Laura Gregerson and Mary Frock.

Willy Arts, born in province of Gelderland, Holland, was raised in a very "horse-oriented" area.  He started riding ponies when he was very young, and moved up to horses at the age of 12.

"I've been involved with breeding all my life, and started teaching Pony-Clubs, etc. when I was about 12 years old, I went to school on riding and instruction for 4 years.   These classes were held locally, once or twice a week.  When I was 16, I started full-time work at a riding school in my home town," said Willy.

He started his own school at age 18, and by the time he was 21, he had moved to a large breeding farm in Holland where he showed yearlings and stallions in competitions.

Willy moved to the US in 1984, and started at the DG Bar Ranch, where he has managed their breeding, training and sales for the past 13 1/2 years.

For more information about participating in the next Willy Arts Clinic write Willy Arts at 3018 Grangeville Blvd., Hanford, CA 93230.
