In addition to the found animals shown at the 3 clinics listed above, as of Saturday, The Oklahoma City Animal Shelter had 40 to 50 animals from the storm. Chickasha Animal Shelter had seven dogs and five small kittens from the storm. Midwest City Animal Shelter 23 animals, Midwest City Veterinary Clinic15 animals. In Norman, Norman lost four animals from the storm housed by private individuals and the Silverleaf Animal Hospital has two dogs. The Moore Animal Shelter began an extensive trapping recue this past weekend and there are now over 100 animals at this shelter.

An all out effort is in effect to obtain loans of additional humane live animal traps for each of the shelters. These traps will greatly aid in the capture of many missing pets that are frightened, but hungry particularly cats.

Moore Animal Shelter is setting special traps at specific pet home addresses and getting good results. If you would like assistance with this specific service, please go to this shelter and fill out a form and they will tell you how this is done.

HOW TO HELP WITH LOST/FOUND PETS INFO:

Centralized pet information is being processed by Best Friends of the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Division with assistance from the Humane Society of the United States. Phone Banks and a computerized database are being set up to process information from all sources at the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter.

    NEEDS: sardines to catch cats, litter, litter pans, large metal pet bowls, humane cat traps, towels & rags, leashes. Please call, there may be some need for volunteers for the next few days. Also need loan of live animal traps

    They need a permanent donation of a fax machine.
