I am still off on my pivots so I have gotten out of all the hard work and just have to tool around on the rail. Consequently, I am not being worked nearly hard enough so I am on "The List" most of the time. I am only trying to be funny but Shirley's sense of humor hasn't been the best in the last month. For instance, today she had a lesson with four other riders and she was late and had to saddle last. I only made her chase me around for six minutes but she was really ticked off! Then after I was saddled, she went to bridle me. I had just remembered that in all the years I have been here I have always stood quietly to be bridled, not once have I tried to get away. Since I have always been so good, she just takes the halter off completely and then bridles me. Guess what I did? I surprised her, you betcha! Some of the words she was using I do not believe I have ever heard before. To punish me, she made me be a pony horse for an hour!! You know how I am about being touched and bumped by other horses anyways (unless I am in the mood). She had already gotten on me outside of the arena and made me open the gate, go in, close the gate and then Jon leads up Fancy. She is only two and is always snobby and full of herself because she is black and white and everyone oohs and aahs over her. I had to put up with her for an hour. She had never been ponied before and I swear she acted like a palomino. I t is not that difficult. I only bit her once for pinning her ears at me, but I AM THE ONE that got in trouble (again). Then Shirley handed Fancy off to Tanya and proceeded to work me! When I tried to convince her that I was too tired from playing around before and a little sore, I got the end of her rommel reins across my rump!! She smacked me!!!!! Well, I went to work but grudgingly. I really wasn't sore but Shirley was just pushing me around since I took off on her before we started, that's all. So all is fair in love and war! As soon as her right foot hit the ground when we were done, I ripped off! She ended up sitting on her butt on the ground. I want you to know though I came right back, so do not get excited. She didn't until I started licking her arms and jeans. I heard a couple more words I have never heard before and then she untacked me and put me away. I reached in and stole two carrots while she was talking to her clients so that when she put me away with no carrots (thinking I was being punished) I had the last horse laugh!! One of her younger students did not put the clip on the gate of my paddock when she watered me, so I was able to get out and sneak up on Shirley while she was bending over sorting through the grooming tools. When I licked her leg, I scared the bananas out of her. Her knee is only good for running so many miles a day so she never did catch me. She left me out and later one of her students was around my pen so I went right in when she called my name. I do try to cooperate (sometimes). Shirley says she can't wait until the vet gives the okay for heavy work. Then she mumbles something about dunes and a lake. There she goes again with those funny ideas about making me into a trail horse! See ya soon, I hear for Thanksgiving. Love ya, THE ACEMAN |
