I got out of two horse shows cuz of Pepper finally having her puppies. As usual, that dog won't do what a normal dog will do, so Shirley has been up and down making sure the pups have been fed, etc. She couldn't leave all day for either of the horse shows cuz Pepper wouldn't let anyone else fool with the pups but she wouldn't take care of them either. It sure worked for me!!! Not only did I get out of the shows but I've only had to go somewhere in the trailer twice cuz she was just too tired to put up with me in the trailer. Now the puppies are four weeks old and last Friday she set up a ride across the lake for Sunday morning. So I made sure on Saturday that I did something stupid so I didn't have to go. (See enclosed vet bill!) She thought I had fractured my stifle joint and upper rear leg but I didn't. I couldn't walk at all after I did it so she sat with me all Saturday afternoon until the vet got here in the evening. After the vet left, the butte kicked in and I started bearing weight on it. I am still sore today but walking much better and she is only giving me two grams of butte a day now. But she spent all Saturday night checking on me and all of Sunday too, like every fifteen minutes. This has been absolutely great!! I have eaten at least six pounds of carrots and I have been coddled and petted and spoiled much better than going somewhere in the trailer!!! The other horse I did this with had to have his knee and pastern x-rayed and, of course, we obliterated the entire pipe panel. We are not allowed to even talk to each other any more. I am off work for a couple of days and after that we will have to go slow. I couldn't have planned this any better as this will keep me outta the trailer for a couple of weeks! I do not mind being ridden here but I do not like to travel as we have discussed before. I have left shoeprints all over Shirley's trailer to prove my point. She still obviously doesn't get it. There is a mini-horse sale through Lyon County Animal Control this next weekend for all the little minis they impounded for being starved and neglected. There are some llamas and ostriches too. Shirley is going to go and buy for a couple of her clients. I hope that no ostriches or llamas come here! Tiger has seen some camels and two llamas but the rest of us have never laid eyes on critters like that before. This could prove to be quite a rodeo when she unloads her trailer Saturday afternoon! Well, adios, ma! Take care and see ya soon. This vacation is wonderful, just missing the pina coladas! His Highness, |
