Background:

Originally from the East Coast, Barbara moved West 12 years ago. She started riding and competing at the age of 5 and was fortunate to have a barn close to her home that she could walk to allowing her to spend much time with her 4-legged friends. It was obvious that she had found her niche in life.

Barbara joined 4-H at 10 and remained active for 12 years beginning as a member and moving up the ladder to secretary, president, leader of her own club and then voted in by her county to represent them on the Board of Directors at Rutgers, New Jersey's State University. At the age of 15, she joined the Horse Judging team and in her first year of competition, which was at the State Level, won Highest individual in all the Hunter Divisions.

She was believed to be the youngest coach to date at that time and succeeded in getting her teams to the National Finals several years consecutively. As if Barbara wasn't busy enough, she was teaching and participating in classes relating directly to the health and well being of horses. She had many opportunities to work with veterinarians and was able to spend a lot time in such famous places like New Bolton Research Center and Cornell.

After high school Barbara made a life altering decision not to enter college for medicine but instead to work with horses on a training level where she knew that she could still be a big help to horses but with a more hands on method. She has never looked back! Managing two 40 stall barns throughout the next several years after high school added even more knowledge and experience to her already full resume.

While managing the second stable an opportunity presented itself and Barbara jumped on it - race horses. Being small, fearless and very strong for her size opened the door for Barbara to try racehorses.

She began galloping horses early in the morning before going to work during the day with the Hunter/jumpers and it wasn't long before she gave up the jumpers and took on the race horses full time. One thing led to another and she soon became a jockey. Riding races also gave her the chance to travel around the country from track to track, what a learning experience.
