| Horses Unlimited, Inc. is categorized as a
non-profit public benefit corporation under the code 501(c)(3) by the Internal Revenue
Service. This makes it possible for individuals, businesses and corporations to make
tax deductible donations to this therapeutic horseback riding program. In addition,
501(c)(3) status qualifies Horses Unlimited, Inc. for county, state and federal agency
grants. By word of mouth, local newspapers, a quarterly newsletter called Hoofprints,
and presentations to groups and agencies the community has learned about Horses Unlimited,
Inc. This has brought support from many directions.
Individuals have supported the program with general donations and sponsorship of student
riders. Local merchants have made monetary donations in support of fundraisers and
contributed items for awards and raffles. Service groups such as Soroptomists
International, the Lions Club of Graeagle, Eastern Plumas Republican Women, Plumas Pines
Womens Golf Club, and the Graeagle Womens Golf Club have provided funds for this program. |
Grants have been awarded by the United Way,
Plumas County Child Abuse Prevention Council, Lassen-Plumas- Sierra Community Action
Agency, Plumas County Recreation Fund, and the Plumas County Tobacco Education Coalition. As
you can see, Horses Unlimited, Inc. has impressive support from the local community and
beyond. There are many causes vying for your support, but Horses Unlimited, Inc. is
unique.
