The message was simple; "We of Nevada do not condone violence or slaughter. We asked the Senate to say "No" to 509 before it’s too late." Now it's too late!

On May 10, 1999, The Nevada Senate voted 15-6 in favor of AB509. Editorial

This will set up a process enabling landowners to ask the federal government to round up the stray horses - it is a way to assure the wild horses are removed!

Those opposed to the paln included:
Sen. Dina Titus a Democrate from Las Vegas
Sen. Terry Care a Democrate from Las Vegas
Sen. mark Amodei a Republican from Carson City

"It's just a thinly disguised attempt to get rid of the wild horses," said Sen. Titus.  "The cowboys once again just wanted the range for cows and sheep and not wild horses."

Sen. Care said, "My vote was to preserve the tradition of the American West."

The Senate also approved AJR2, which urges Congress to contol wild horse popultions and keep them manageable.

I wonder who will determine how and when these wild horses will be picked up and where will they be taken?  Will it be to slaughterhouses?  Who will answer these questions?
