Have the people of Nevada so quickly forgotten this horrid crime? Is Nevada soon to be branded as the "Slaughter State?" Will this be a safe refuge for predators who wish to sell horses for profit to the slaughterhouses? Will this be the destination for domestic, wild and estray horses whose value is counted as pounds at the slaughter auction? I feel that the proponents of AB 509 are stating it is not a slaughter bill but only removing horses from private lands. But history has shown that wild horses were driven onto "private" lands from public land in order to gather them & take them to auction. This is a fence against state & these "private" ranches should FENCE AGAINST at their expense & not remove horses at the taxpayers expense nor at the suffering of wild horses.Members of the Nevada Legislature willingly passed AB 509 this last week. The only persons whi I beilive to vote against AB 509 were Doug Bache, Las Vegas; Jan Evans, Sparks; Chris Glunchigliani, Las Vegas; Shelia Leslie, Reno; Dave Humke, Reno; and Bonnie Parnell, Carson City. Soon the bill goes before the Senate. I beg you to write, call, fax or e-mail your Senators and ask them to stop this insanity, the slaughter of our horses our equine history. Nevada State Senate OR Nevada State Assembly, Capitol complex, Carson City, Nevada 89710. For e-mails: senate@lcb.state.nv.us and assembly@lcb.state.nv.us The message is simple; "We of Nevada do not condone violence or slaughter. Say "No" to 509 today before its too late." Dee Beaugez |
