How did you get involved in disaster planning for animals?

Dee Beaugez's first response:
There are emotional and non-emotional reasons. On the personal side -  Once upon a time a rode my trusted Morgan mare high into the Mountain Range it rained a lot that year. Without warning the mountain gave way and we found ourselves heading straight down some 40+ feet. I never forgot my mare, Lady Taffy Dee, and her determination to keep us both alive.

I didn't think about it then, but I've lived through three flash floods for some reason.

When I started publishing our web site, the Horse Review, I promised myself  and that Morgan mare who saved my life - I'd do my best to create a web site to house information for disaster planning. I knew I was on the right path when I hired the managing editor, Shirley Sepulveda, who had been a survivor of the 1983 Washoe Valley, Nevada mud slide. Next I found out our Assistant Publisher, Vickee Greer, was responsible for rescuing many of Nevada's prize Hunt Horses during a wild fire near the Nevada Red
Rock area.

We promised each other we would build pages on the site and create links to help people PLAN for Disaster, not simple react as we had to in our past experiences.
